FAQs

How long does it take to get new countertops?

The answer to this depends on what type of surface you are wanting for your space. If you are looking for laminate, the lead time is typically 2 to 3 weeks. If you are looking for quartz, granite, or a solid surface, the lead time is typically 4 to 6 weeks. It is important to remember that lead times can change due to holidays.

What is the difference between granite and quartz? And which is better?

Granite is a natural stone and quartz is a man-made stone. This means that granite is porous and will require some maintenance to keep the tops from getting stained/food safe. Quartz does not require any maintenance. Neither stone is better than the other, it really comes down to preference and what is most important to you in a countertop.

I am also needing a new sink for my laminate top- how do I go about that?

If you have chosen laminate, then you can purchase any top mount sink you want and we will cut the hole for the sink into the top. The other option for laminate is to do an undermount sink. If you choose this option then you are required to purchase the sink through us. This is because we are able to provide undermount sinks that are compatible with laminate, while most other undermount sinks are made to be installed in a hard surface. We are able to provide stainless steel and quartz composite sinks for laminate.

Do I have to make an appointment to come into the showroom?

No, you do not need an appointment to visit the showroom. The showroom is typically open 8 to 5 Monday through Thursday and 8 to 4 on Fridays. We do not have weekend hours. Because we are a small business and hours can change, if you are traveling far to visit the showroom we suggest calling ahead of time to make sure we are open.

What can I expect when I visit the showroom?

When you visit the showroom it is helpful to have an idea of what you are wanting. It typically helps to bring in samples of your flooring/cabinets/wall paint/etc. to help match the countertop to your space. The office managers can help you make the right decision for you and lead you through the decision process.

What do I need to do to prepare for a countertop template?

The first thing is to make sure your new cabinets are set before you set up a template. We are not able to template until the cabinets being used are in place. We also ask that you have your countertops fairly cleaned off in order to get the most precise measurements.

Do you have remnants available for purchase?

We do have laminate remnants readily available for purchase in many different colors, sizes, and edge profiles. If you are interested in a laminate remnant you are welcome to stop by the showroom anytime to take a look. If you’re interested in a stone remnant you can view remnants available through our suppliers by clicking on the “Remnants” tab at the top of this page (we do not have physical stone remnants in our shop). If you find a remnant you’re interested in, let us know and we can get pricing for you.

What is the cost of countertops?

This will depend on the surface you are looking to get. As a rule of thumb, laminate will typically be about a third to a half of the price of stone. The cost of laminate will depend on the layout, edge profile, and finish of laminate you choose. Stone costs depend heavily on which brand/color you were to pick. When getting a quote on stone you will get a wide range until you narrow down your options.

Does it cost anything to get a quote and how do I get one?

No, there is no cost associated with getting you a quote. There are a couple ways we can get a quote to you. You can call our showroom and schedule an appointment for us to come measure your space to get you a quote. You can also e-mail us a layout or stop into the showroom with a layout for us to quote. A quote typically takes 2 to 5 days to get back depending on the layout and material needing quoted.

I need modifications made to my existing stone, is that something you can do?

At our shop we only fabricate laminate countertops and use suppliers for our stone jobs. Due to this, our saws and blades are not meant to cut granite or quartz. If you had your countertops installed by us we are happy to get you pricing on the modifications needed - however, if the tops were not done by our suppliers we are unable to assist.
